This is a pair of rattle (castanets) played by the Toma ethnic group of the forest region of Guinea - West Africa.
it is composed of 2 closed straw or rope surrounded containers filled with seeds and is usually played in pairs by shaking them up and down. They are now widely used by dancers in modern shows.
